Questionnaire Analysis
We tested our questionnaire on twenty people and the results provided interesting and helpful views. The statistics in the study showed that there are very widespread views on magazines, music genres and what different parts of magazines are the most enjoyable to read.
The most important piece of evidence that we found from our questionnaire was the widespread like for all different rock genres. In our brief we explained our desire to plug what we think is a gap in the market for music magazines specific to the rock genre. We believe that there are no products that include all aspects of popular rock music and our questionnaire proves that there is a potential demand for a product that does involve this.
Another question that gave very important information was ‘How often do you buy magazines?’ This question gave us an impression of the amount people in our target audience buy and read magazines. The results in our study showed that the majority of people buy and read magazines every week which will help us decide how often we will sell our product.
Another piece of information that we have collected regarding the direction of our product is the favourite sections of magazines of our target audience. The most popular parts of magazines were interviews, stories and reviews. We were already very keen to include all three of these in our magazine as we both enjoy reading those sections and believed that they would be the most important in creating our desired product.
Possibly the most important information that we collected from our study is the possible increase in demand and sales for our product if we include artists from other musical genres. The results showed high popularity for rock/indie acts and also R n’B acts, most notably ‘Kanye West’. We have agreed that the inclusion of acts that are popular to both our target audience and others could increase the popularity of our product and create a wider audience.
