Why I Chose My Brief

I chose the trailer, front cover and poster brief for three main reasons. The first reason is that the coursework that I completed at AS level was the print brief involving the music magazine, so I felt that by doing a film brief this year I am giving myself the opportunity to learn in more aspects of media production. The next reason is that I felt this brief was the most diverse. The creation of both film and print supplies me with the chance to develop a wide range of skills and also the poster section is something I haven't previously worked on that I wanted to attempt. The third and final reason for me choosing this brief is that I have decided to apply for a university course involving the study of film and this coursework piece will gain me skills that will help me within the course.

I believe that there is a gap in the market for the product that I wish to create. The teaser trailer that I am making is for a teen comedy movie that will incorporate common conventions of both British and American teen products. I feel like there has not been a film or television programme that includes aspects of both styles and that by creating this movie I will attract a wide target audience of viewers that enjoy both styles or one or the other.

  1. I was expecting to see a storyboard/animatic and synopsis of the plot of your film rather than a retrospective look at why you chose your brief, Will. What about the soundtrack and rough cut of the footage? Is there a reason why these aren't posted as yet? Remember it is essential that you demonstrate development of ideas.
