Front Cover

There are sections of this draft that I will use in my product and also sections that I will not use. I will use the structure idea of having the logo of the magazine in the top left hand corner of the page and also the use of a text box at the bottom giving a brief insight into what artists will be featured in the magazine. Finally I will use the structure of having a coloured text box going across the middle of the page and image, which will include the front cover headline and a small amount of text explaining the main features of the article involved.

There are parts of this draft that I will use in my final magazine layout and parts that we won't. The position and shape of the poster hook in the top right hand corner is very impractical and will not be used for two reasons. The first is that the shape would be impossible to make on Microsoft Office Publisher. The second is that the area that this section takes up does not have to be that large and finding a position and shape will take up less space will be more suitable. I will not use the structural layout of having the captions explaining features of the magazine on the left hand side of the page and also the structure of having the image towards the right side of the page, but I will be having a small amount of text to preview the article inside the magazine.
Contents

From this draft I will be using all sections, as they are all very practical. Also, the layout will allow me to place everything we need to include in the contents orderly and make the page as easy to read for readers

I will discard all of the sections of this draft, because of its impracticality and the confusion that trying to read it may cause. The section that the image is placed in is impractical because there isn't enough room for a decent sized image and also it will take up to much room in the section where text is needed. The section where the main heading of the text is down the left hand side of the page is also impractical because of the needed room it will take up.
Double-Page Spread

There are both sections of this draft that I intend to use in my final product and sections I don't intend to use. I will use the introduction text section, because I believe that having it in the top left hand corner acts as a good brief explanation of the article and also sets the scene of the story. I will not use the layout structure of having the main text and images horizontally opposite eachother instead of having the continuation below the start and the images vertically opposite, instead I will use the structural layout of having one page covered by an image an the other by text.I will use the layout structure of having the headline across the top of the page because it sticks to general conventions of the music magazine genre.

I don't intend to use any of this draft layout in my final product. I will not use the layout structure of having the headline across the middle of the page as I am going to place it across the top of the page. I will not use the layout structure of having both the text and images vertically opposite to also make our articles different from regular magazine articles, also because I will be using the structural layout of having one page covered by an image and the other covered by text.

I chose the final magazine logo from these six initial draft designs. I decided to include the logo I did because I believe that it is the most effective and simple of the logos. Some of the other designs in this grouping have parts which make it difficult to understand what the text says, which will put viewers off of the magazine. I believe that although it is simple, the logo I chose allows easy reading and will catch the eye of viewers and also the colour I chose continues the reoccuring colours of the magazine and increases the light hearted effect of the colour and shade of blue.
